It has been revealed that Meninga was leaving himself a voicemail, reminding himself of the Maroons’ detialed gameplan to defeat Ricky Stuart’s Blues side.

The conversion went as follows:

Meninga’s voicemail: “Hi, you’ve reached Mal.  I’m not really here though.  Please talk now.”

Meninga: “Hi Mal, it’s Mal.  How are you?”

Meninga’s voicemail: “……”

Meninga: “OK well I’m good.  Just wanted to remind you of tonight’s gameplan in the Origin match.  You got a pen?”

Meninga’s voicemail: “……”

Meninga: “Here’s the plan:  Drive to stadium.  Say ‘Queenslander’.  Purchase pie and XXXX.  Say ‘Queenslander’.  Make sure players remember to wear jerseys.  Use bathroom if needed.  Sit in coaches box.  Drink water whilst saying ‘Queenslander’.  Clean up spilt water.  Do victory lap.  Say ‘Queenslander’.  Thank Michael Hagan for coaching the side. Write scathing article against NSW.”

The revelation is a further blow to Meninga, who’s already facing legal action from the NRL Match Review Committee after his recent controversial article labelling powerbrokers within the  NSW  Rugby League as “rats and filth”.

Meninga refused to comment, but is believed to have asked QLD assistant coach Michael Hagan to prepare his defence.
