Coverage of lawn bowls is set to reach new levels of excitement this Summer with the ABC announcing they are investing heavily in the use of super-duper slow motion technology to further enhance the currently all-too-rapid images.
With an increasing number of fans turning away from the sport complaining of the footage being too fast and chaotic, the game’s ruling body, made up of retirees Bob and George, have decided to slow down the footage to allow audiences to properly analyse each millimetre of the bowl’s path.
It is expected that with the slow-mo implemented, each bowl will take between 10-15 minutes to get from the bowler’s hand to the jack, and another 15 minutes for Jack himself to walk down to the bowl. Each hour of bowling action will be stretched out over 5 enthralling days, in a move that will pit the bowls coverage up against the might of Channel Nine’s Summer of Cricket.
The new-and-improved Lawn Bowls coverage isn’t stopping at the new super-duper slow-mo, with reports suggesting that the ABC will also be adding hot-spot technology to determine the exact timing and position of when the bowls collide, as well as a group of scantily-clad female volunteer cheerleaders from local retirement villages.
